About The Book

This PTCB Exam review guide is a valuable tool for individuals who are preparing to take the pharmacy technician certification exam. It is not intended to address all aspects of the pharmacy profession. Rather, its purpose is to teach quick study tips and the basic facts needed to pass the PTCB certification exam.

PTCB Exam Contents:

The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions centered around the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. There will be 2 hours to complete the exam. A calculator may be used during the exam. The PTCB exam will cover the following topics:

  1. 1. Assisting the pharmacist (64%)
    1. a. brand and generic drug names
      b. drug usage
      c. drug side effects
    2. d. drug classes
  2. 2. Drug inventory control (25%)
  3. 3. Pharmacy administration and management (11%)

When taking the PTCB exam, remember to eliminate the choices that are obviously incorrect. This will narrow down the choices if having to guess at the correct answer. Only one answer will be correct. Make sure that each answer is read carefully before marking the final answer. Generally, it is not a good idea to go back and review the questions and make changes in the answers, if allowed. In most cases, the first selected answer is likely to be correct.

Get a good night’s sleep the night before the test.

• Eliminate incorrect answers when possible.
